Comments and Compliments

THE URBAN DESIGN LEGACY OF COLIN ROWE

I mean...really, really, really...I hope these comments are insightful and witty...

The book is a magnificent achievement... No doubt it represents many years of diligent work. I commend your excellent research and dedication.

The book is as much a history of contemporary urban design as it is a compendium of Colin Rowe's scholarship and influence. Its inclusiveness and depth are impressive. Although I have only started to read through the book, I skipped around several chapters and found references to events I remembered or knew about. I hope libraries around the world will acquire it.

IIt is truly a beautiful and beautifully laid out book. I love the layout of my piece...the visuals are stunning. I succeeded in getting my point across!

We are delighted to have very recently received The Urban Design Legacy of Colin Rowe. It is absolutely magnificent, both in presentation and in content. It has already provided us with hours of browsing and several episodes of impressing everyone who visits with the wonders inspired by Colin, now so elegantly and comprehensively garnered by you.

Sometimes it seemed like this magnum opus would never come to fruition, but it has certainly been worth the wait. An enormous thank you to both of you from us and from all the Rowes.

I’ve just had the joy of perusing the book sample you provided below. I’m astounded frankly at the breadth and depth of the book as evidenced in the quality of the preview pages both text and image. I’m so thrilled again for you that this project has finally come to fruition and you can rest in the confidence that you have created a masterpiece. Gathering and wrangling such an unwieldy cast of contributors is impressive. I was especially happy to see your three chapters and very much look forward to seeing the book in the flesh.

Congratulations again...

…profound congratulations on a monumental work/accomplishment! I leafed thro’ the entirety of “The Urban Design Legacy…” and am utterly in awe – astounded by all it seems to cover and by imagining the incredible expenditure of focus, attention, energy and intellectual and visual ‘horsepower’ it encompasses. If only it could be distilled into a mandatory high-energy-pill…, or a twenty minute YouTube video, that everyone, architect, urban planner, real-estate developer, politician, zoning and city planning board member the world over were required to take or watch!!!
